Hello. I am having to sell my complete layout due to move to smaller house. I am not sure how to price it. Suggestions please. I am making up detailed item list and photos of everything. All items boxed apart from 78 ft of straight track. iI understand I cannot ask for offers, Most items A1, and under 10 yrs old.

You are trying this at a tricky time. However to be positive, have a look at GRS second hand stock then also Ebay but wait for final values. A good fair price is likely to be somewhere between the two. Unless an item has gone way above GRS price in which case a couple of idiots have been fighting for it on ebay! Also look at items sold on here this will also give you some ideas.

Good advice from dunnyrail dunnyrail regarding pricing. As regards how to sell it, it depends on how big your collection is. Selling on here is good as you are in the UK and so are the majority of members so shipping is easier (can't use "buyer collects" at the moment due to lockdown). If it is LGB stuff that is likely to attract the biggest audience. You are limited to "buy it now" pricing but there are no fees if you use paypal family and friends. You can't sell too much at a time though as you might "flood the market" and if it does not go quickly I don't think members often look to see what is still available, so you have to be prepared to manually "bump" it. Otherwise ebay but as dunnyrail dunnyrail mentioned and ebay mike ebay mike in another thread it's not a good time to try and get money from other people's pockets - it's a "buyer's market" at the moment, so either use "buy it now" or make sure you have a reserve if you got for "auction". Don't underestimate the time to create a good listing whichever route you use and time and materials for packing.

Due to the current world situation, and the fact that we are in a stay at home order, I've removed my Ebay listings, for the time being. I simply cannot get to the post office which is only a half mile down the road. That's how afraid we are.

It seems that one route, the specialist auction houses, might be shut down right now. I have recently received a notification from Vectis to that effect. I would look at a means of storage for the time being if you cannot accommodate these possessions in your new accomodation. People are rightly a bit jittery in taking in used items from another household rather than new and nesseary product from a major vendor. Max

Sorry, did not finish. Will definitely wait a while, but at least I've listed, boxed and categorised, which took some time.. Thanks again.

Would you like to post the list? You never know someone might be looking for something you have and might make you an offer you can't refuse!

Be a bit frustrating if you find something you want and then he can't get to the P.O. so ship it? I'd wait until the stay-home is lifted.

If you know the item is yours, then there's anticipation not frustration. I can vouch for that as my new car is somewhere in the Czech Republic partly built. Should have been here by the end of March but goodness knows when it will arrive now.
