this Morning whilst doing some random searches I made a search on "castlederg & victoria Bridge locomotives" to show something on this forum. I then decided to look through all the ither stuff that the search found, amongst some of the relevant and also irrelevant stuff I found this picture:-

image.jpeg

Now I know my old line at Hemel and knew immediately that this was a picture from it. I think that the picture may have been used either here sometime ir on the Mad Site. What amazes me is that it has somehow been seen as a Tramway Coach and come up in the search. Fame at last, or be wary of what you post? If I had the ability I would be water marking all my posted Pics from now on.

According to google it comes up from a thread on GSC about tram coaches from 2010

https://www.gscalecentral.net/threads/tram-coaches.54107/

The image doesn't show in the thread itself (probably now a "lost" link during one of the forum updates), so google must have a cache of when it used to exist. Looks like might have been your post #4

Nobody's "borrowed" it!

Interesting that that thread has lots of X'd out images. Never thought to look at the image in large which does give other info. Must be a way to put my ownership of the image rather than Water Marking. But guess that the Net searched for Trams and finds all sorts of stuff. It is all out there once you start posting!

This forum is indexed by google, including images posted. Because it covers a fairly niche subject matter, images from here often rank pretty highly in image searches.

For instance if you search for "steam tram motor", a picture from one of my threads appears about half way down the first page. A picture of the Baldwin 2-4-2 from the same thread also appears, just by virtue of association.

You can always watermark images if you're worried about them being stolen, but it's fairly unlikely for special interest stuff.

Also, it probably means the odd-bod gets to the forum via one of these pictures??

That, or 'The Internet knows who you are!' and 'where you live'!*

*to a first approximation, based on your IP address..

Google searches just get wider and wilder.

Hence, I have frequently found my own pictures when searching for 1:20.3 rolling stock :yawn::yawn:

For a special interest group like ours, the results will always loose relevance quickly just because the pool of available information is so small. Our own images that we post here make up a reasonably significant percentage of all the pictures of large scale trains on the internet, so it's no surprise they feature frequently in searches.

I think the carriage in question popped up if somebody annotated it wrongly. These carriages are often mistaken for the Fiery Elias coach.
