Hi

Does anyone out there have a spare HLW bogie for their goods stock. That ebay bargain came with one good bogie and a Bachmann one!!

As HLW stuff isn't quite so common this side of the pond, the alternative would be a pair of Bachmann bogies.

Failing that, my recollection is that LGB diamond frame bogies are comparatively cheap if you can find a supplier well stocked with spares. (They are dark grey plastic rather than black.)

Otherwise, it's the kits and bits suppliers, Andel bogies are among the cheapest.

Thanks for the thoughts - The idea of using LGB bogies is rather fine and I am sure that I have seen them somewhere at a price that surprised me as to how low it was.

When I started garden railways there was a plentiful supply of the HLW stuff and so many of the shorty kits and some bogie wagons were obtained. I like the simple ruggedness of them and the low prices means that I have no qualms about leaving them out populating the sidings when no trains are running. Sadly little HLW stuff is around these days and is at breath-taking prices.

The bogie may be the same as an old Kalmazoo, I have a box of old US wheels and bogies so I look to see if I have one.

Jeff,
I've found one actually several in my parts box. I assume that you need one for the standard bogie wagon as there is a variation with a longer coupler connection arm whioch must be for a caboose, coach or loco.
I will send you a PM.

Good news - one of our members came up trumps and the bogie arrived this morning.

I think the bogie came with a big job lot of parts I got on ebay from Cost Rica about 10 years ago because of the unusal location there were not many bids and got the lot cheap even if the postage was expensive. I would of liked to have seen the face of the of customs officer who prcessed it into the country as it was a tatty old fruit box covered in stamps, lumpy, rattling and quite heavy, I bet the X-ray scan was unique as there were lots of wheels, old circuit boards together with tools, whole and broken wagons and loco parts!
