Highlighting piping on a backhead using a leafing pen

I use a "Krylon" brand "Gold Leafing Pen" borrowed from my wife`s card making toolbox to highlight the polished brass piping on an LGB steam loco`s backhead.

I have attached some pictures of the completed one and another prior to getting the treatment plus a picture of the pen.

Those pens are very good, I do lots of gold lining with them, they also make a copper coloured pen as well for copper pipe etc....

To make the work weather proof and give it some protection I then go over the line work with one of these;

This needs UV light to cure it but it is very good to go over polished brass etc to keep it shiny...

You can also use a silver one to touch up around coach window frames.

The tip can be cut with a new exacto blade to whatever size you want, without cutting they are about 1.5mm wide.... Tips are a fibre type chisel shape....

For fine work, I pushed the pen down to dispense a pool of paint onto a piece of styrene and then use a fine artist brush, just have to small bits at a time as it dries quick.

Clean up was with good old metho (methylated spirits for overseas people )

The pen I used is one of SWMBO's that the tip has frayed to much for her card making.
