Het Nederlands Modelspoor Museum - Sneek - the Netherlands

This is a lovely museum located IN the train station of Sneek!!

It houses about 75% H0 scale models and lay-outs, but a large part is in our beloved GScale, due to the donation of the superb collection of Appie Baantjer, a famous Dutch crime novel writer. There are two LGB lay-outs! Many interactive parts so kids (No mention of age) can play with them.

Here some models from Appie Baantjer.


This is a fun detail as it displays a murder scène investigated by the main chatacter of his novels, de Cock!



The lay-outs are pretty crouded and have some ‘interesting’ train combinations...

Throughout the museum more LGB models are displayed.



These are made by a Dutch company, Stoom & Spoor. Not LGB scale, but 45mm track.

Other lay-outs in operation. Reminded me of dusty and hot attics...

Some loose trains, like very old Marklin and such, or odd scale like 1/64.


This was a very interesting diorama, made in early 20th century. Check the perspective and imaginary depth! All wood!

And the last series. NTM, or Nederlandse Team Maatschappij. Most models in scale 1/40 (if I remember correctly) and H0. Also most are handmade! Impressive!

Oh i’ve seen many!!!!

Not to speak of the LGB lay-outs. One loco had a door upside down, wagons had their roofs front/back flipped, a Stainz without cabin, ...

We’re close by on holidays. So we went by car. No station in the area we’re staying...
