I have a bunch of painted/weathered bighauler stock painted with plasticote and acyrlic paints.
Subsequent to weathering I decided to resolve some annoying squeaks by dropping some engine oil on each axle end- run smooth as silk now.
However it is obviously spraying up onto the underside in motion and the leeching up the sides leaving greasy water marks. I could live with this as just prototype muck and grease, but the trouble is they all have 1:1 finger prints on all the time Arggggghh
How can I fix this without disolving the paint? Dishwasher?! Sink and fairy liquid? A chemical of somekind...?
I cleaned them(ish) with wet wipes for my open day, but after one running session they are the same again. Obviously need to get the oil out of the axle ends somehow.
Thanks in advance
PS It's one of many schoolboy errors but this one just spoilt a relaxing bit of trainwatching!
