Hi Guys,
I have been hovering around for a few days and thought this looked like a great forum to join :)
So, a bit of background.....
I dismantled my previous 16mm live steam railway over 10 years ago. I had been running a Pearce countess, W&L Hunslet no14 and a Tolhurst coal fired V of R loco. I got a yearning to go back to British main line 0 gauge and within a couple of weeks everything was sold and the garden re-landscaped.
I had waited near on three years for my Tolhurst loco and coaches, and in typical fashion just as she was ready for collection, LGB announced their Aster/LGB K28. I just couldn't afford one, so have had a longing to own one for over 20 years.
So with every purchase comes a new set of problems..... The K28 is built to LGB's 1:22.5 scale and the Accucraft coaches are to 1:20. Trawling the net, I can't find any suitable Bachmann coaches in the UK, new or 2nd hand, and Piko appear to be to the correct scale but 1/2 the length!
Also, I need to consider either staying with the loco's analogue system, DCC or R/C. Obviously, sound is a must, although I'm not too fussed about the smoke.
I used Peco track for my last layout and it was in the garden for 12 years and was as good as new when I lifted it, so I'll probably go down that route again.
Looking forward to making contributions in the future, and gleaning lots of useful information in the meantime!

Alco, welcome to the forum, I hope you will enjoy the banter.

Welcome aboard. I have to confess I had to google "lgb k28" to see what you were talking about. That's quite a monster so I guess you are going back in the garden unless you have a very large shed! Which part of Hampshire BTW?
Cheers, Dave

Hi Alco K28, welcome. Hampshire ehh! Are you prepared to divulge which particular part? I had a connection with Four Marks for over 40 years, and rode the Watercress before it was. (whilst it was still BR.)

Hi Guys,
I have been hovering around for a few days

Hope that wasn't you in the vicinity of Gatwick! Welcome anway. I'm miles away but visit your neck of the woods occasionally to visit daughter, S-I-L and the grandchildren.
