Hi Everyone ,
I would like a Hartland Rail Motor in NYC livery, I have tried looking on the Hartland website , but every dealer listed as a stockist, no longer seems to carry their stuff. Also no information about it's specifications, such as minimum radius.
I am wondering: what is the minimum radius they will negotiate 2) have they ceased trading. 3) Does anyone know of anywhere they have one in stock ? 4) anyone have one to sell.
Not sure if this is the right section for this !
Cheers Garry

The only places I know which have HLW in stock are in the USA. Jeremy lists them but I don't think he has any stock.
I have bought in the past from Wholesale Trains,

the problem now is that the shipping is so expensive from the States.

Theywill go around those two super small radius curves that AC sells , really small radius curves .
They are still in bussiness , who has some in stock ?
The Hartland Mack and Linecars will negotiate Accucraft 20" radius curves ie much tighter than R1 with no trouble.

Yes the AristoCraft 20 inch diameter curves ART 11140
and also the 31 inch dia curves ART 11145

I have both of these curves in complete circles here ,in the house for testings , and have operated the HLW interurbans and RMC s around the small curve circles .

The Hartland RMCs he wants have two power trucks , where the Interurbans only have one power truck

I have purchased most of my 10 or so , Hartlands from RLD Hobbies over here , and I know that he ships over there .....................

If the Railmotorhas the same two power trucks as the linecar then they will be OK.
EDIT: I have just looked at the images on the HLW site and the Railmotor trucks look to be bigger/longer wheelbase than the linecar ones.

Cheers Keith T & Dennis P,
I cannot find a way to contact them for a quote for shipping so I will phone them tomorrow,
at least they say they have one in stock.
Cheers Garry

Yes Keith , funny thing is I currently have a Hartland RMC [unlettered] sitting here on a 20 inch loop on the table right here behind me now.

I like Hartlands , they are like LGB ................they run and run and run

Beauties indeed

HLW is a very small company. Unfortunately, they also don't seem to want to the headaches of getting very big. Most of their retailers that I've conversed with complain about 'spotty delivery'. BUT if they make the stuff in small batches and have to wait on a supplier who's 1st job isn't trains, that's actually pretty understandable.

Tho only complaint I've ever heard about their quality is the couplers on their budget kits can be brittle and will break if the car is dropped... that says something.

In my experience it's worth ringing your chosen supplier to check they actually have physical stock first of exactly what you require. I don't know about RLD or Ozark, never dealt with them, but 'available' in Wholesaletrains-speak usually means 'we haven't got any, but we'll order it from the manufacturer AFTER running your credit card'. If HLW don't have stock of that livery, you could then be in for a long wait with your money already tied up, ot a fight with Wholesaletrains to get it back and go shopping elsewhere.

Re the railcars, in real life did they ever couple them back to back, in effect creating a multiple unit? (dmu)

True Wholesale Trains can be a bit 'vague', I ordered a Delton boxcar around 2yrs ago. It still shows on my account as "awaiting shipment". At least they have not charged for it though.
HLW are rugged but my Linecar was delivered with the bogies reversed causing a dead short. It was a 2minute job to correct but it should not have happened.
I still like them.:D

No joy from the contacts mentioned above , but there is an e-bay shop with a good supply of hartland stuff, he has the undecorated one in stock but not the NYC. I will think about it as it shouldn't be too hard to locate or have made some suitable decals for it.
Thanks for your help & pictures Garry

I was told by someone that Hartland is just a sideline a commerical injection molding company and they only make train models to fill gaps in their orders so when they are busy their train stocks get low.
