Take one trinket box from `The Works`


Add one Hartland chassis


some plasticard strips and a few (hundred) Cambrian rivets ...


Result = one Gunpowder Van for the Bickerton Mining Company


I can`t take any credit for the originality of the idea - I`m sure someone (maybe on this forum) has beaten me to it. But the outcome is quite pleasing. Definitely needs some transfers and some judicious weathering - looks far too pristine for my railway..

Lovely job, Rik - I think Swift Sixteen do one in resin (in 16mm), but I'm sure yours was much more satisfying to build!

Darn it. I wish I'd seen his before making mine - the photos on his website give a lot more detail than I found on t'internet. Oh well, as with all my models, they are 'representations' of the real thing - mine was clearly put together by the local blacksmith after seeing one on his visits to Snowdonia...

Rik, do not worry it is perfect. From memory though they being metal do attract Metal Wood Worm (Rust) so perhaps some small deposits at straping edges. Love the off tge wall thinking of the Works Trinket Box. Reckon yours will have saved you a few bob from any kit. Plus the satisfaction of your own creation is something you cannot put a price on.
