G-scale (LGB) on finescale G1 track..

Does anyone have experience of running G-scale stock on fine-scale G1 track at all?
Thinking of flange-depth as much as anything.
TIA,
PhilP.

I have run LGB on code 200 rail but it has been soldered on to PCB sleepers. The flanges clear as long as there isn't too much solder. I have also seen running on similar rail held down with spikes. Both of these methods are indoors on plywood baseboards. Not recommended outdoors.

Thanks for the info..
The track is a large 'layout' through a 40 foot shed with large loops on elevated baseboards outside.
Cliff Barker G1 track.

Separate loop for the live-steamers, which does not pass through the shed.

My friend in Swindon uses 10mm (the manufacturer of G1) track on his layout. Partly for cheapness but he thinks that it looks better for his RHB Layout theme. Only problems that I can think of are Very Old LGB Locomotives have slightly deeper flanges and these run on the Rail Chairs. The LGB Track Cleaning Locomotive bumps about a lot too, I think that this me due to the thiner Rail Profile.

Hi Philp , as said by JonD the early lgb catches the tops of the chairs code 200 - for a while I ran a 10mm layout using (10mm) company - track also with this track you can adjust the check rail on the points --lgb ran ok -on peco it clipped the chairs also hard to adjust the check rail --- Dave

Thanks all..
Will try the Cliff Barker webby-site (phone rang out yesterday). May call him again, depending on what I find online.

I will know for sure in a couple of weeks when I fit the TL45 point motors and connect up the Massoth kit.

Thanks again,
Phil.

Do you mean Tenmille Jon?

They are close to where I work in Suffolk.

As well as G1 track they manufacture track for G scale, code 332, but with a narrower foot than the other well known makes.

Most G1 modelers use either Tenmille or Peco G1 track. G scale will run on G1 track, but the wheel flanges often hit the chairs....

I did send this to another member back in the Spring but in case you haven't found that.... All my kit is Bachmann based (see youtube footage(s)) and as long as I remember to remove the frog inserts on Peco Finescale Gauge One switches I have no problem.
