g gauge track £4.10 a foot new

Well it says code 332 which is usually 45mm gauge but 32mm is O gauge all a bit confusing in'it

The advert says and i quote

"Flexible 32 mm (gauge 1) track in 6 ft straight lengths. There are 6 lengths in this pack.
This track has brass rail and plastic moulded sleepers, code 322, for use with Accucraft, and LGB railways etc."

Its clearly a mistake because 32mm , gauge 1 and lgb shouldnt be used in the same sentence, They normally sell bigger sizes so maybe they get confuussed with us micro scale modelers, i think some office waller has used an old 45mm ad and just changed the price and size, but you never know whos willing to take the risk and pos snap a bargin

Tony

It's easy to make a mistake, especially when loading so much stuff on, like they do.

Easy enough also to send the seller a question, or ring them up. They're a nice set of guys at Maidstone they have always been helpful when I've had dealings.

Yep, I asked them this morning via the eBay message system, and they confirmed it is 45mm; whether they changed it as a result of my question, or whether several others had already pointed it out, I don't know.

Jon.

It looks like Aristocraft G-Scale 45MM track.

MES are normally associated with MaxiTrak - Maybe someone who is moving up to 5" or 7 1/4" traded it in.

Just had a reply to my follow-up question to them, they're buying it in from Accucraft UK.

I think it's actually around £3.84 per foot or £4.18 delivered! That is a bargain!

Mick

I too thought it looked like AMS/AML track. As I recall, 'bout the same price as I paid for my last box from Track-Shack.

Yep - less than £4 a foot. BredeOstBahn has invested in 36'!

Yes the AMS code 332 has to be the best price around for new track. The good news is the points are due out this year, and no I don't know what radius they will be or the price, but must be something to watch out for.

Happy steamings,

John

Yes, I meant to say Accucraft (not Aristocraft).

I have seen it in Kent Garden Railways for around £4.20 per foot, and they always seem to have some in stock.

I believe it is the same type of brass as LGB/PIKO and so weathers the same. The sleepers have a lightly sharper/squarer look though.

Have to say, in my experience the AMS track doesn't dull-down anywhere near as rapidly as LGB, and I find the AMS track is easier to clean. (Can't comment on Piko track).

Here's a comparison, this track's been outdoors for almost 2 years and not been touched since last November (I was hoping to go out and play today but it's pee-ing down again!) LGB on the left, AMS on the right. Both were brand new when laid.

So far, I like the AMS track and will definitely use it again when more's needed. Some stuff that friends bought maybe 3 years ago had a slightly higher profile and rounder head, but all the lengths I've used have been an excellent match for LGB profile.

Looks like AMS/Accucraft track, and if so, not such a good price (at least here in the US). I was getting this stuff for $4 US a foot two years ago, but not sure if I would buy it again. Accucraft's rail is a tad larger than other 332 brands of rail, and does not weather at all. My track that has been out for about 18 months is still bright gold.....

Honestly, I would look at TrainLine, again, better quality and only slightly higher in price as the Accucraft stuff here in the US.

One advantage I have here - particularly with 6' lengths - is that I am near enough to collect and save carriage charges. Which is what I plan to do! Might even take Mrs B with me and buy her a lunch.

If it doesn't weather, I'll paint the stuff dirty!

When are you track laying then John?

Give me time, give me time.......................
