By coincidence I am chipping a bachmann tram as we type. Its being a real sod - the thrid time I put it back together one of the motor bearings fell out. Unfortunately, me mates are coming to play later on and I could do with it working. Enjoy your afternoon....

hi paul, it is a stainless steel framework for the neon flashine shell oil sign.
looks wicked on an evening when the trains are moving goods. i have another neon garage sign which is even better.

I also chose to run some trains in the glorious sunshine today rather than tackle the journey to Nottingham.
I decided to run a longish train made up of my entire collection of a dozen assorted boxcars.

I then used a couple of steamies to haul the same train.
First up was 'Mars' - a Pearse Colorado.
This is a powerful loco but has a very feeble steam plume, almost invisible in the warm weather we had today.
Next 'Eleanor' had a run.
Not quite as powerful but a much better steam plume
You can see some of the live steam gubbins on the garden path.
All in all an enjoyable day, though I'm sure G Rail was great too.

Thanks. My sidings and loops are set up for trains of loco plus four boxcars but today I went a bit mad....

1880's Colorado Narrow gauge on 45mm track
Hi,
I spent yesterday ladling out all the gravel roadbed of about 1/3rd of my layout; the rae had been causing trouble with my Mason bogie for some time as there was a dip in the track, and the long strain was also unstable in spite of the gravel having sharp edges.
When all was removed and cleaned I fitted into the wall a set of 1/2 size Clecon blocks, which were cemented in position, and the curve (which was the first one I had ever built) which was causing all the trouble has been re-aligned and also cemented in location. Some more cement was expended on the abutments to Franks bridge though more is needed after some minor path laying is done (before more cement can be laid), that is scheduled for tomorrow (my aching back having begun to recover from its previous exertions)
When the cement was reasonably dry I gingerly tried the Mason Bogie, which now performs as expected.
I completed the tidying up and then took a couple of photos of the loco and a short train in the sun, entering the depot. Here they are,
and a close up of the loco itself.
