I was given a smoke unit from an O gauge Bassett Lowke Flying Scotsman modern series by Corgi now out of production. The unit is fitted with a fan and a heating element. The element was broken but I have managed to join the broken ends with some success and it works, I have recently purchased an 3 W 18 Ohms resistor from Maplin and removed the ceramic coating and it appears to be identical to the original element which I will try if the old one fails completely. Does anyone know anything about these smoke units?
