I have just got round to fitting a Massoth eMotion sound decoder in a Bachmann Mogul. It is my first time using a mossoth chip. I have two questions. First. I have fitted 12v grain of wheat bulbs Back, front and in the cab. how do I now change the voltage to be safe. Second question . I have also fitted a 12v GoW in the firebox how to wire it up and set it. Sorry I'm so thick but I cant make the instruction book out and I don't want to blow it up. Thank in anticipation

Hi Peter,

As you know my experience of DCC is very limited. However I would suggest that adding details of your equipment may help more knowledgeable folk answer your question as, AFAIK, it's simpler to alter the relevant CVs with some bits of kit than others.

Thanks Neil.
I,m all DCC using a massoth central station and a navigator hand throttle , hope this helps.

I believe it's possible to set CVs in the Massoth decoder to regulate the function output voltage. It'll be in the decoder manual.

It works well but personally I'm not a fan of this, for the simple reason that if you ever change or reprogram the decoder and forget to set the voltage - bang go your bulbs or LEDs!

I prefer to assume full output voltage on the functions and fit a voltage drop resistor in circuit with the load.

You need to change CV 50, should be 32 = full track voltage, so will need to reduce the value, proportionally.

Hi Peter

Set CV50 for the light voltage..... 16 should be the max value for a 24v system. I suggest trying 14 which should give about 10.5v - each unit in CV50 relates to 1/32 of the track voltage....i.e 0.75v when using 24v and 0.68v on a 22v system.

Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone its only the firebox now.

NOT SURE I,M DOING THIS AGAIN.
(it,s doing my head in)

Use ESU Peter, far better. Perhaps I shouldn't have said that ;);):)
I mite just bring the bag of bits to you to sort out Steve.
