First Steps Outdoors...

Many thanks for all the kind words and encouragement; certainly this line would not have been created if I were not a member of GSC.

Anyway after a couple of days away for work I found a little time this afternoon to tinker so I set a loco and a couple of wagons off for company then did a little weeding and landscaping.

I have been growing the plants in pots for years so no cost.
Slate is the result of many Merry Christmas in North Wales :)

Decided to start with a UK outline train today.

Bought this loco with the proceeds from ebay sales last year and I had only ever run it on rollers so was good to see it in action.

Familiar face inspects the Accucraft diseasel :D

Then I swapped for a classic LGB loco (THE classic LGB loco?) and ran this train until it was too dark to stay outside.

nicely done that man!!

Coming along nicely CeeDee....

After just 3 weeks of having a basic railway in the garden it is almost a ritual to run a few trains when time and weather permit.
I took the opportunity to run one of my Gauge 1 locos yesterday along with all my RTR stock; I have some wagon kits to build and haven't had the enthusiasm to do so but I enjoyed running the std gauge far more than I expected so they may appear over winter.

The close-up really emphasises the overscale nature of the code 332 rail when used with 1/32 scale but I am happy with it in the garden.
This four wagon train was more than enough for the Pug with the R1/R2 curves as they are quite heavy with their die-cast underframes so removal of the R1 curves may be on the cards even so soon after the initial build.

However as I start a new job next Tuesday this weekend is all about enjoying some running and not construction so we finish with a shot of the tanker at the end.
Really need a brake van to complete the train.

A very nice looking loco and rolling stock. All the best with the new job and look forward to more pics of the railway.
Thanks - I really like G1 and hope that my effort can help dispel the myth that you need acres of land and a lottery win to entertain the scale; Ok so I have small locos and four wheeled wagons but G1 is practical even in a tiny garden if you are prepared to compromise :)

Nice Pug Chris. :bigsmile::bigsmile:
You are well on the way now........I'm sure you will be getting lots of ideas for expansion.
Thanks Paul :)
The Pug was result of part-exchanging a load of N & OO stock a couple of years back - the same deal also saw me acquire a J94 and some wagons.

I have ideas for expansion of the existing loop and already have the necessary track in stock
Looking forward to the R3 loop too although that may well have t wait unless we get a good spell of weather over Yule.

Those G1 wagons and the Pug look great Chris.

Nice to see something different and more British....

 Magic. Coming along nicely. That G1 stuff looks grand.

Thanks Gents - rather enjoy the variety of stock that I can run on 45mm gauge track

Talking of which, the Bachmann Thomas brakevan looks pretty close to 1/32 scale to me and could be a nice, relatively cheap addition to your G1 train. Of course it will run well on G scale track. Would ultimately need a re-paint though.

I did have a look at one a couple of weeks back at Glendale Junction; I need one to go with my Percy and his troublesome trucks so if does turn out to be too big for G1 I can still use it

As today will be the last chance to run anything before the weekend I gave something else its first go on the loop.

Handrails not fitted as it needs go back in the box at the end of a run but what a beast!
It even managed the R1 part of the curves with ease.

Again both items bought with the proceeds from some ebay sales.
I'd love to get some more wagons and a caboose but it would seem that Dragon G Scale no longer list USA Trains rolling stock on their website :(

I really like the Alco S4 and whilst it took a while to arrive it was well worth the wait.
I love Western Maryland stock and would really like to add a few more items of stock at some point ;)
