Feldbahn Stock For The Cfr.

Over the years the "Feldbahn" stock on the CFR has been steadily building up. All the hook and loop couplings have been replaced with Binnie centre buffers and chain. The side dump hoppers have all received paint jobs and weathering to depict various degrees of decrepitude.

Dan, no problems at all. Shunting(switching) operations are easy and reliable.

I looked closer at your photos. I see that you have buffers on the wagon ends. Obviously they are not fouling on curves during switching operations.

nice contrasting pain on the inside portion too. adds interest.

i too have a soft spot for the FRR stock and locos
imho, none look decrepit at all, some in use , some almost new

Dan, the red and white stripes are put on at LGB. The lime green stripes are thin tape.

Three new wagons for the CFR? They came with metal wheels and had individual lettering. They were added to the other wagons to make a rake of fifteen. Albert hauled them along quite nicely.

The wagon fleet keeps on growing.

The fleet of coal skips now stands at 25. The intention is to run them in rakes of 9, so I still need to acquire two more skips. Two rakes will have loads and the other rake will be empty returns.

The rake of skips now stands at 27. As mentioned previously I will be running them in 3 rakes of 9 skips.

I picked this box up from Glendale Junction yesterday. Contents of the box, ten stake wagons individually numbered and marketed as "sugar cane" wagons.
