Can you add an extension cable to an LGB 55016P ? the end is basically a phone jack was thinking of adding something near the track to plug into as I have now decided to keep the MTS station in the house rather than trying to get mains power to the shed , don't want to dig the paving slabs up to do it , took too long last year re-laying them all.

As this fits a UK telephone socket anybody know the wiring layout for the handset ? Remote might be a while away yet so will be tethered this year at least.

Yes - look at ebay - I got a 10 meter cable for just a few quid.

No, it is computer networking - RJ45.

Err.. NO! It isn't!!

It is a 6P4W (6-pin shell, with 4-wired connection) which makes it A Registered Jack 11.

It will fit in the centre of a RJ45 (8-pin) 'computer network' socket.. These are dirt-cheap, and probably easier to get than an RJ11 socket!

You can wire these with a standard 'krone' punch-down tool, that you would use for the IDC (Insulation Displacement Connectors) on a UK telephone socket. - The cable is quite cheap as well..

If you do not need a lot, I probably have several ten's of feet kicking about here, getting under SW's feet you can have.
Bog-standard twisted pair network cable is not strictly rated for outdoor use, but saying that I know of it having been run outside for several years (even slung between buildings) and to still be working.
The outer cover is not UV stable, so will go brittle over time.

If you are going to Peterborough, I could let you have some??

I stand corrected - its an RJ11.
I got a 10 meter cable with fitted connectors from ebay for just a few quid in my early days of garden railways - used it as a wander lead and it worked well except for the fact I kept getting in a tangle - soon went wireless.
