I am helping build a 32mm gauge railway at a museum in South Australia. We need a track powered 0-4-0 loco. Our budget is limited so it needs to be a kit.

Ideally the loco needs to be a Krauss, a Decauville, a Kerr Stuart, a Fowler or a Bagnall since these operated in South Australia.

I am aware of the GRS Hunslett kit but these did not operate in South Australia. I am also aware of the 3D printed Bagnall available on Shapeways but they can't supply it.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

Have you looked at Worsley Works - etched brass (or nickel silver for 16mm stuff).

It's not that cheap because of the size, and the amount of nickel silver involved.

You'll then have to find a chassis and work out a way of joining the two - have a chat with Alan - nice chap.

Re-gauged LGB Stainz or feldbahn loco for the Krauss? Are you trying to replicate a specific SA prototype or trying for something plausibly representative? If it's the latter you could also factor in a re-gauged LGB Porter, I think there were a couple of similar looking Baldwin locos (such as 'Sandfly') that were used as contractors engines in SA.

You could look at IP or Essell Engineering, mboth do 32mm Chassis Bits that just Bolt Together and also supply Insulated Wheels as do Roundhouse. Then you would need to sort out Pickup and perhaps an LGB Body of choice could be adapted to fit. Not sure you will find a cheaper option.
