Can anyone recommend a good supplier for these? Ideally I want holders that have both solder tags and mounting plates/brackets.

I've checked eBay but most suppliers are based in mainland Europe and seem to have long delivery times (e.g. 14 days after payment has cleared). I did find one UK supplier but their price is several times that of the non-UK ones.

Thanks in advance.

Just checked evilbay.de, 2-3 days within Germany. So add the normal 4 days for UK makes 7 days.

Not sure what the postage cost would be, Germany UK.

Model masters in Weston are a Brawa stockist and something like that was/is part of the Brawa range.

Look them up and give them a call - I have always found them very helpful.

I guess the big issue is that this sort of thing is obsolete technology so there is less availability and choice these days.

Thanks guys. I was intending using them to put lights in buildings as simply screwing in a bulb is a lot easier for me than soldering LEDs these days (I even have some E5.5 bulbs which are actually LEDs!).

Also, wondered what do people use instead of bulbs these days?

I think I've got some 'old style' Christmas tree lights somewhere. They had screw in bulbs. Could you cut up a set of them to use?

Where I have LED units in some of my stock, I have used the LGB connectors from the units they replaced.

The displaced modern LGB units with the plug in bulbs now light my Playmobil platforms etc!

Brawa and Faller both do a neat little LES bulb holder mounted in a plastic stand for lighting buildings. I have used these in HO before and they are very effective. Some buildings came with a mounting point for the holder to clip into!

Usually suppliers charge a flat rate for international delivery of EUR 18 at the moment the GBP to the EUR is nearly 1:1.
Sorry, not my fault.

Wait! We have this guy selling them on eBay.de. He has 8 sets available with 3 holders per set at EUR 1.79 per set. Postage to europe (you are still in it) is EUR 4.89 no matter how many sets you buy and he takes Paypal. Delivery is 5-7 days.

There are also these, 10 pieces per pack for EUR 5.99, post to europe EUR 7.55, again they take Paypal.
I keep mentioning Paypal because not everyone in Germany has it.

If you want to look in Germany then type 'Stegfassung E5,5' into your search engine.

Thanks guys. All this info is very helpful and gives me something to dig into tomorrow. Once again GSC members come up trumps!

If you are going to Llanfair or Elsecar, I think I have what you want.
See my stand The Sparesman

Unfortunately I doubt I can make either of those events.

I also realise I'm getting dumber by the day - inspired by Mr Duffy I swapped out the bulbs in my LGB colour light signals for LEDs a while back and I've just remembered that I kept the bulbs and holders. So if I can figure a way to mount them inside a building's roof I'm "good to go" as my transatlantic chums say.

Hot-melt, comes to mind.. Though it depends if the melt is hot enough to withstand the warmth from the bulbs?

Silicone should do the job too.. Can be piggled off if necessary, will insulate, and keep the damp out.

Itsy-bitsy screws work too, the downside is you will need about 100 as you will keep dropping them and they magically disappear. I used screws and put the -ve wire under one of the screws and the +ve wire to the tab, and for once something I did worked! N.B. I attached my lights to building walls as they were thicker than rooves and gave better light distribution in 2-level buildings.
