'DR' colour scheme

I feel that I will need to do a bit of a repaint on some Hammond coaches just purchased. I believe that an overall red colour scheme is not prototypical for 'DR' coaches as depicted by the Hammond version. I know that the rebuilt combines were painted overall red. My question, were any rebuilt 'DR' coaches repainted an overall red scheme or is this a marketing exercise?

I can make a red/cream 'DR' coach by swapping a high arched curved roof from the unprototypical green/cream 'DR' cars with the red/cream Saxon roofed cars. This will give me a 'lookalike Rugen green/cream Saxon type roof (alas with 'DR' and not 'RuKB' marking), as well as a red/cream high arched 'DR' car. Failing this, I could simply repaint a cream windowline marking on the overall red 'DR' coach.

DR coaches were green. In 1973 DR repainted the coaches on the HSB in the familiar red and cream (luggage vans being all red, as you said) as a marketing/image exercise. I am pretty sure that passenger coaches were never all red.
I though Hammond were painting thier coach in red and cream?
The ends of the coaches (saxon/HSB) are quite different as well.
The Rugens coaches were all green with DR markings until fairly recently (2004?)when marketing and a change of ownership dictated the greem/cream livery and the new logo.

got to be green for anything DR. the gloom and doom of black locos against dark green stock. the trains must have been double glum on a wet dull day. the DDR has a certain wow factor about it.

Alan,
many thanks, looks like a few repaints in order. Hammonds do a red/cream 'DR' with the Saxon style roof and an overall red with the high arched roof. I saw a You-tube video from 1991 for the 'Molli' line (Bad Loberan?) that had 'DR' cars as depicted by Hammonds with red/cream and Saxon style rooflines, but these were six window coaches. They were intermingled with red/cream high arched 'DR' coaches. Later videos show a different paint scheme with a deep maroon and cream and a different road insignia.

The Molli has always had red and cream coaches from the outset - even through DR days. All coaches now of are of fairly recent construction (apart from a 'traditional' set) - 6 windows as you say and with a lower arch roof than the HSB but not dipping down at the ends like the saxons roofs. Again - luggage vans are all red.
