Directional lighting LGB 55021 decoder

I am putting one of my older decoders into an LGB 28001. No real issues however I am darned if I can figure out how to keep the cab light on in both forward and reverse (without extra electronics). I want to use the light on/off to activate ie. I don't want to use F1 to run the cab light.

I have removed all existing electronics and will be just using the decoder.

I am sure I have done this previously and just cant remember how I did it.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hi Slawman Slawman if you wanted the cab light to be on all the time regardless of directional lights you could connect it to the track power pins brown and white at the bottom of the board assuming it is a full voltage light bulb not LED.

Hi Dave, I want the cab light to come on only when I activate the lights and stay on regardless of the front (forwards) or rear (reverse) lights coming on. This is how it works using the LGB electronics, which I have removed.

Looking at the pin outs it may not be possible without some further electricy stuff....

Should be simple enough with a couple of diodes. Decoder functions have a common positive. You can connect a light to two function outputs and they will work as an "EITHER / OR" connection, but you will need to add diodes to prevent the head or rear lights also drawing power through the other function.

Thank you Nick, I think this is the only way to do it, unless there is a secret F2 but I am not sure how to check that (John?).
