Tag, sometimes life so unfair. This week, to have lost two really good people in our small world of live steam is a almost beyond belief. The reputation of Ron Brown and David Cooper preceded them both with adjectives like gentleman and honorable being typical. In my brief dealings over the past 9 months with David, I not only saw the affirmation of the description you gave me of his being an "honorable chap", I saw a tireless supporter of small scale live steam. David was so proud of his work and he truly wanted everyone to enjoy the fruit of his labor. He invited every single purchaser to his home for a private tutoring in the fine art of coal firing a locomotive.

Today, we are all much poorer to have lost these two fine gentlemen.

Well said Will. I did not know Ron, but had got to know Dave over the past year. I was shocked and saddened to read the news while travelling back from Europe yesterday. It is good to hear that his son Rob plans to carry on the work that Dave believed in so passionately.

I have had confirmation that Sabre Steam will continue in business under the stewardship of David's son Rob Cooper ? who is already part of the business.

It is requested that Sabre Steam is not contacted over this very difficult family time and I will provide information to customers as I get it.

Hi All,

This is such sad, sad news and I wept when I read your post Tag. I had the privilege of befriending David during my Annabel purchase and subsequent coal firing experience and I had looked forward to continuing that friendship well into the future, now this... to the Cooper family, I am so very sorry for your loss.

My sentiments exactly Andy. Such a really helpful guy, so enthusiastic about coal firing and so proud of his locos. He was getting really excited about his two new locos which were due to be ready before Christmas.
I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times and chatting to him on the phone quite a few.
It's so sad.

Hi All
I would like to thank everyone for their kind and supportive comments, both on here and by e-mail, phone and letter.

I was working with my Dad at Sabresteam for quite some time and share his passion and determination for the business. I would like to assure all customers both old and new that Sabresteam will be continuing and growing, with the fine attention to detail and customer service that my Dad started

if anyone would like to know more about our current range or our new locos, please dont hesitate to give me a call.

Hi Rob
My sincere condolences
Having recently lost my farther at easter,
All i can say is, it takes time

Dear Rob,

Again, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Despite your recent hardship, I acknowledge your courage for posting here so soon and begin moving Sabre Steam into it's next phase of evolution. I have no doubt about your ability and contribution to the business, it's something David would constantly raise in our all too few conversations over the phone. I look forward to seeing what's in store next, in good time.

On a happy note, I ran my Annabel last night. Have been burning proper coal only for long periods and my little dragon just gobbles it up. All I have to do is get a coal bank on (changeover from anthracite), ramp up the blower to get the coal a burnin' and give the grate a good clean out. After a few runs most of the anthracite is gone and a nice fine red red glow replaces it. Subsequent banks soon snap and crackle (if you listen very carefully..) and with a heavy train the coal responds and burns beautifully. David would've loved that.
