D & RGW Southern Geese

Railways, Cars, Wine!
Just got a copy of The Best of C.W. McCall, with the Galloping Goose track on it (yes OK. OK. I know; I'm sad and need to get out more) and wondered if there's anything around at all that would be the basis for making a Goose, especially No. 5 or 7, the ones with 16feet of boxcar spot welded to their tail!
Looking at pictures, the whole thing seems immoderately long and rigid for the narrow gauge curves, was the rear bogie on any sort of swinging arm arrangement, like a four wheel pony truck?

AKKK!

THat will teach me to do a bit more research before asking question!! Yup, the 'long' gees were articulated around the middle, driving bogie, and the Accucraft model looks rather nice

Most Accucraft dealers would only order one in for you so it would be best to call round the dealers and find out which will offer you the best price with postage. Simon of Anything Narrow Gauge was offering to beat other prices when I wanted a loco last year so maybe try him. You can always call Track Shack, GRS, KGR and the others.

The cheapest way though is if you are going on holiday to the US to buy one there.

They do come up second hand from time to time as they have been making them for at least 25 years.

If the Accucraft prices are a bit rich how about getting an old diecast Hubley kit off Ebay (a lot made to 1:22 scale ) and using that as a basis for a faux Goose, or would that be a Goose faux gras :rolf:

Max.

A faux goose, I would definitely have a gander at that.....

I have got a 1, 2 and 6 but would like to add a 5 or 7 one day. Will try for one next time I get over the pond.

Bachmann also make the smallest work Goose.

Even the big geese when you think amount the quantity of brass in them are good value compared to similar size LGB models.
