cow catcher

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have been modifying a Stainz to give it a slightly more American outline. Nothing dramatic, I'm not a purist, nor do I have great skills,
but the one thing that screams Americana is the cow catcher... and I don't have one! I have tried making something up, but I'm not happy with it. So my question is.... does anyone have such a thing spare, I'm more than happy to pay for it, or does anyone suggest a retailer who might be able to supply one?
For anyone interested, heres how it looks at the moment.

One option...

Cowcatcher LGB Mogul Gunga Din

David

Yeah, someone else does one slightly cheaper - found it - Swift Sixteen, but no fixing details

I also have a slightly narrower one, a Brandbright one, but you can't see daylight through the slats - it's a solid brass casting - I've got to take a piccy of the Aristo sound tender, so I'll take a piccy of the cowcatcher :whew::whew::whew:

Check Ebay. Sometimes there's an American outline Stainz for sale. The cowcatcher is interchangeable with the front coupler on the Euro outline locos.

OK, piccies of two cowcatchers - the brass Brandbright one, and a plastic one broken off a Connie - but beware, that one's 95mm wide o_Oo_O

If you're interested, drop me a PM :nod:DSCF0962.JPG

Smart looking loco Revok, another option, some plasticard and rod and a custom build to suit?;);)STAINZ 008.jpg

And to bring this thread to a happy conclusion, here is the loco with its new cowcatcher fitted. There is still a little bit of work to be done, but it was a nice day today and I'd cleared the mountain of leaves from the track so I thought I'd give it a run.

Yep,that`ll do nicely,looks the part:cool::cool:

I remember a Class 365 arriving at King's Lynn with a chicken (dead) firmly attached to the front coupler :D:D
My favourite was a Deltic arriving at York when I used to commute Wembley to York Monday and home on Friday back in 1972. Delly had a Pheasant that had been hit in full flight across the front, looked for all the world just like a mascot. No blood no gore or anything like that.

you need a cow catcher from a 2017 version.
i like yours…different than the stock Lgb.

i like the look of your loco. Unique, a bit whimsical. Nicely done.

Hello, and if you want to be original, a tricky way to get your fingers busy: just wood, plasticard, brass rod and brass nails. The drawing ara from David Fletcher for a "Mason bogie" articulated loco.

I was in the cab of a diesel something travelling between Glasgow and Edinburgh at about 80mph when a pigeon tried to cross in front, it was like a bag of flour had exploded, and it made one heck of a thud.
The worst I think are crows, one of them head on at 90mph can actually crack a DMU window.
