Hello all,

A while ago I started to dismantle a G scale coach with the idea of making them a bit more modern, and making it look similar to a BR MK 2 coach.

I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew with this my ideas were there but my hands and tools let me down a bit. I persisted and comprimised on a few things, like not having opening doors, having to repair the roof, and a couple of other bits. Any way here is how it went so far:

Ok the start product was a cheapish toy coach imported from USA.

Then i got the hack saw out the dreaded point of no return hacking always scares me. Firstly I did not really want lots of small windows, so I thought I'd cut some out and make them bigger.

First comprimise here, there are 7 windows, so I have 3 large ones and a small one, to make this look better the small one will be turned into a toilet.

Then I decided that modern day coaches do not have a balcony veranda, we have doors at the end of the coach, so I cut the end off.

Ok the next couple of bits I photograhed then I deleted them by accident, so I'll fill you in.

I had to create a vestible to have the doors, I made this slightly too long, now the existing roof does not fit. I have to rig a roof to fit now!

I tried several ways to get the boors hinged, I kept breaking doors, or frame, I gave up and gust glued tem in place.

I ran out of the buffers I wanted so Instead of buying more, (and being downhearted by now) I just used some spare playmobil buffers.

Here is what it looked like after some work and frustration.

Ok so its not perfect, but by the time is painted, and glazed and got a new roof it will hopefully have been worth it. I'll post pics here of it as it completes over the next few days.

My cutting skills are not quite up to starting from scratch, I like to have a starting point.

Unfortunately the coach is slightly the wrong scale to look good next to my cl. 66.

Here next to my PIKO 218 also looks in proportion, Perhaps when I finish the other 3 coaches it'll be time to get a 218 to paint into BR colours.

If you have any questions regarding this build please direct them to GSC member Dave Hub. I didn't do the kitbash, I just reposted the original thread from GSM.

cheers

Wow, I'm just learning about British equipment and I'm really not into modern stuff but this looks great. The end treatments and the enlarged windows came out very well. Heck if its not the right size I would imagine with your skills you could splice two of the coaches together to get the correct length.
Again great job.
