I recently purchased a used Aristo Class 66. Are there any vendors that make British freight wagons that could go behind it?

Aristocraft made intermodal sets with containers
Here are some images:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=aristocraft+intermodal+class+66&biw=1480&bih=871&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=9ekIVObzMdHxaMuzgvgB&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

You could also put some two or three bay hopper cars which are not too different to the British outline jobs. They could be repainted to be even nearer to prototype...

These are made by USA and are the same 1/29 th scale as the 66 loco:
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=aristocraft+intermodal+class+66&biw=1480&bih=871&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=9ekIVObzMdHxaMuzgvgB&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=USA+Trains+2+bay+hopper

These 3 bay hoppers are made by LGB, they are 1:22.5 scale but do not look too bad behind the 66:

These are made by Bachmann they do a 1:22.5 hopper and a 1:20.3 scale (but this does look tooooooo big!)

These were made by Aristocraft and are 1:29th scale:

At one time you could get a pair of Intermodal wagons, no longer produced I believe, may well crop up on the second hand market.

To be honest the American wagons aren't that close to anything the 66's pull in the UK.
The closest I found were these from Piko. They are available in several liveries each.

Very close to the box stone wagons used by EWS & Freightliner. Spray light grey and put Yeoman or MRL logos on them, green with Freightliner logos.

Longer versions used on coil traffic and similar articulated ones used to carry jaguar cars.

The Playmobil wagons can be used to make plausible 2 axle aggregate box wagons?

I haven't seen him on the forum for a while but Welsh Dave, who drives 66s for a living, did a nice job of reliverying these into EWS wagons....

Playmobil also made a grey version which is probably easier to get hold of as it has only recently disappeared from the accessories catalogue.

I know, when the Class 66 was initially produced, the Aristo-Craft intermodals were - and still remain - the only products made to complement the loco. The Bachmann Big Hauler three bay hoppers (1:22.5) seem to look quite well behind a Class 66, a couple of folks on this Forum have them. If you can get the DATA only bauxite versions so much the better.

PIKO have introduced a range of American outline cars in recent times. They are not highly detailed but are 1:32 and I am sure could fit well being a smaller scale.. 1:29 USA Trains might appear slightly out of scale with the Class 66 as the Class 66 is a British outline loco and therefore smaller than most of the products made in 1:29. I don't have a Class 66 so cannot make a 1:29 comparison. The Class 66 was produced solely for the UK market, although one or two Stateside dealers eventually stocked them.

You really need something modern with buffers, don't you? How about container waggons, on special @ 70 Eur?

Cheers,
Peter.

Having used a mix of USA outline hoppers or Aristo Brit container modal wagons behind my 66, I would happily throw in a couple of the Piko ones.
The container trains that go through Colchester on their way to Felixstowe sometimes have an odd mix on the wagons......

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I am going to get the Piko gondolas and try and make some box stone wagons from them. Will probably get a few of the Piko intermodal wagons too.

Given that Class 66 now work in Europe, and also that quite a few European wagons come into the UK via the Chunnel, have you considered the PIKO range of G scale wagons?

http://www.gaugemaster.com/search_results.asp?searchstring=%20%20brand~~598~~brand%20%20scale~~%acg%ac~~scale%20category~~1266~~category&currentpage=1#4

The container flats (37707) and the open gondola wagons (37702) might be suitable if the scale looks right?

And these wagons are SG prototypes with double buffers....
