I have fitted check rails to bridges. At first it was to actually keep things on the tracks, when my track laying was less that good! Following that, I just thought it looked better. I used lengths of track with the ends bent in slightly. Then attached to the sleepers, just inbound of the chairs with silicone adhesive.
They would look better if I`d used a smaller code track, but it works for me.
thanks Ross, both bridges are straight, so thought check rails where necessary, if not then it would save a lot of work. but as the photo posted by Martino they certainly do look good.
Thanks to you both.
'Tis my thought that check-rails should be around a flange-width from the running rail, if fitted inside. Some countries fit their bridge check-rails OUTSIDE, to be of any use I suspect these need to be a full wheel-width further out so they stand a chance of catching anything that falls off. There must be some details somewhere on the web. :-\
On my bridges, and a sharp curve. I make them from rectangular strips of Hard foamboard, (look for Vekaplan on the web - no connection with them, that is what I use) that is cut to be below the level of the railtops - this is so you can clean the track without them needing painting every time!
They still work in spite of not being 'rails', and are glued down to the sleepers with Evo-stick, don't forget the 'tapers at the ends as well.
