Those who may be watching my thread will know that my building of my new line has been ongoing for a while. There are currently 2 exits from the Shed which I used the LGB Beer Van plus a bit to calculate the clearances. I added a bit too. You can see from the Beer Van pic below that I had allowed plenty

Or so I thought, then I remembered the Piko Harz Kamel. I just had to check it out:-

Well it goes through the Hole but the picture below shows how close it was! That LED in the roof has around 5mm clearance or less.

Measure very carefully your clearance requirements before cutting wood and things. I just got away with it this time.

I shall be making up a Wooden Template for the next lot of building as I will have two more holes to cut in the shed. But probably next year now.

Sound advice. I remember when I was a volunteer photographer with the local fire brigade visiting a one appliance retained station on the moors. At the time, it was the only station with a 4x4 appliance, a big Bedford. The Bedford just fitted under the door and I noticed that there was no plaster under the girder above the door, just the aluminium mesh would take the plaster. The answer became obvious when photographing the fire engine - it had come in on part worn tyres before the plastering had been done and, fortunately someone had noticed this and worked out that with the plaster done and a set of new tyres on the appliance there would be zero clearance!
