Changing Couplings

I'm New, Please Be Gentle
I have a G Gauge loco called lynn from the Lynton Barnstaple namesake. My problem is that the loco has knuckle couplings, but the L & B coaching stock are all chopper couplings. Is it possible to replace the knuckle couplings for chopper types, and how is it done. The coach chopper couplings are just screwed to a thin metal strip attached to the wheel bogies. Any ideas please. Croffer.

Accucraft choppers are available from the usual suppliers such as Trackshack (and others). They fit with two 8ba bolts to whatever you like to drill to take them. If there is no 'natural' place for them on your drag and buffer beams, then look to see if it is possible to fit an overlay beam, and fix to that. If you look in the Product reviews you will see how I did it to my Roundhouse L&M.

Is it the Bachmann model? (or I think Accucraft make a model of Lyn also?)

Some older Accys come with a single centre buffing coupler for use with chains. I had to change them on my Excelsior.

Hi Nick, this is an accucraft model, came with knuckle couplings and spare general type couplings.

I have a Bachmann Lyn (current version) that I'd like to replace the couplings on. I did replace the rear knuckle coupling with Bachmann's hook'n'loop (everything else I have uses hook'n'loops until I can get a round tuit and change them), but it's even uglier than the knuckle and hangs wa-a-ay out. I'm more likely to go to centre buffer and chain than choppers.

Hook n Loop do not look so bad if you take the Hooks off. You do need Hooks at both ends on all your other stock, but it is well worth the effort as reliebility is pretty well 100%. It is also worth blocking the loop down 20 or 30 thou with some plasticard to get better reliability. Plus most stock has a second hook buried in the box and you can get a few from taking them off all your Locomotives.

Of course just depends what you are doing. If you only run round a loop whilst having a beer or wine, well you do not really need a front coupling on your Loco.
