Change the couplings on my Bachmann Lyn?

Thankyou. Very helpful

My only issue is I don't have the accessory bag as This was second hand.

One other question, what oil should I use to lubricate the moving parts?

A very 'light' oil, and sparingly, as it will attract dirt, which turns into grinding paste, if you are not careful..
You can use 'smoke oil', or if you are serious about the hobby, look for a set of Hobbylube lubricants. - The set will cost you a little, but will probably last you your whole garden railway 'career'.

This will be used sparingly indoors. Having just bought this loco second hand, I'm conscious of maintaining it in a good working order.

Coupler (Hook & Loop) - (Large Scale) [PN-92419-2] - $3.20 : Bachmann Trains Online Store!

Is the part you want, but once you note the part number, do a search for Bachmann Europe, and give them a ring. - They are at Barwell near Leicester..

Something quite 'light'.. You can use smoke fluid.

PhilP.

Browser did strange things, and I thought I had 'lost' the post..

Thankyou again, this is most helpful

I will certainly give them a ring. However, it seems there is an additional part required to lower the lgb connector to line up correctly with rolling stock which is stated in the pdf mentioned earlier

Well talking to Bachmann Europe, they will know what you need..

You can 'ask the Bachmann' on the website first linked to.. But it can take a while to get a reply.. Normally quicker to ring, as you can order over the phone as well. :)

I have just bought a brand new one of the latest batch, anybody any suggestions for a suitable sound decoder for it? The instuctions from Bachmann say that it is 'DCC ready for a decoder of your choice!'
Thanks
Dave

You know those Haynes manuals, from the early days:
1. With finger and thumb, remove engine..

I remove the existing board.
Connect the three sets of pickup wires together.
There *is* a 'chuff-cam', but it is pretty carp. - mechanical switch.. Needs a de-bounce circuit.
There is a speaker in the back of the cab, so a bonus there, but it is not the best..
