The steam up area is attached at waist and chest height to the front of the control cabin. Locomotive boxes are stored underneath. Gas is kept in a seperate steel container and is stored in a seperate shed.

Just make sure the steel container and shed have ventilation at the bottom. Gas is heavier than air, so sinks. It needs to get out of the bottom of any container it is stored in, to avoid build-up of gas.

A point well made Doug. Both container and shed are well ventilated. I learnt the lesson of gases heavier than air many years ago when a friend of mine had a steam up well because all his track was at ground level. On one steam up he dropped a still lit taper into the bottom of the well, there was a bright flash and an heavy whoomp, gas ignited, lesson learnt.
