Unfortunately yours truly was unable to join some fellow members of the Trens.Cat group for this get-together, but I'll try harder next year! A nearly 2000km drive each way is a bit daunting, if I want to take some of my stuff, though. With no commercial products available for Catalunya, several of these guys have been constructing their own models using resin casting and some foam board/plasticard examples. Worth a quick look, just to see something a bit different in the garden railway world.

Me too - the arched windows are very authentic but must have been hard work: if only I had the patience and skill to do the same, but I have been suitably impressed enough to have a second attempt at 'Spanifying' my Aristo shorties next winter. ;D

Some interesting stuff shown, like the way they are converting LGB into something quite different.

Would have loved to see Spanish NG Steam, but stories of Train Guards sticking Rifles in peoples back till they showed their Foto Permit in the Mid 60's kind of put me off. Did manage some BG Steam though in the early 79's. I started to get a bit braver by then.

It is hard to imagine how Spain must have been only 50 years ago. I have a partial cameo scene of the Civil Guard Citroen 2CV chasing some railway photographers but I've still to find the right figures to create a pair of Franco's evil henchmen! ;D In one of my books there is an amusing account of one of the UK's railway authors being hounded by locals for holding hands with his fiancee in public. Thankfully there is still some good preserved steam running and the Garratt on the Train of The Lakes out of Lleida is a must-do. It is a lot more welcoming now and this train even has a dedicated beer coach.
