Camping in France. Bring your trains!

I'd be wary of the Killer Whale in the pool...... ;)

And I'm not quite sure what the red line through the swim shorts means, either - the mind boggles.....

All joking aside, it does look like a lovely spot, plus the trains too!

Tell us why Henri!
I've been going to France every year for 13 years and always wondered.
My wife has been going there for 40 years and still doesn't know why either.
Could be because, if you dive in the pool with shorts, they are more likely to come off than tight fitting smugglers....

Good enough! - I guess it is to do with things 'escaping'!:tmi::tmi:

I don’t know the answer either but a good friend of mine will (he lives in France quite a while) If you’re really interested..? ;-)

Not that concerned really, Henri - just a matter of idle curiosity! ;)

its to stop workmen jumping into the pool in their workshorts. Most builders wear shorts in the summer and they get full of concrete dust etc

It is all to do with pool chemicals. Modern washing detergents intentionally leave residues in your washing (softeners, perfumes), these cause foaming in the water and make it harder to keep the pH correct. Shorts carry a lot more residues than trunks.
Grotty builders probably dont help much either.

Maybe its just because the French can make up these rule, I am being carful as i do not wish to insult Demiel1910 Demiel1910 ;)

I was asked to leave a pool a few years ago because i was wearing shorts and i was given the builders shorts reason but i guess a lecture about the chemicals would be too complicated for your average frenchman!! iam english but have lived in france for 20 years now

I think the real reason has been missed here - although the 'builders shorts' come the closest.

It's a simple matter of public health. Shorts can be worn anywhere - on public transport - mending the car - wrestling a pig in a 'petting zoo' - horse riding - etc. and might not get washed for a year or more.

Whereas 'budgie smugglers' get washed pretty much every time they are worn and have far less material to carry any contamination .... :)

So.....................

French swimming pools are full of drowned budgies?
:(:eek::think::giggle::giggle:
