For anyone modelling a NG North American style railway, it might add another type of car to your fleet.
It is a rather simple "KitBash", but simple enough that even non modellers could enjoy doing it.
All you need is a simple Bachmann box car. Don't worry about the colour, or lettering.
Remove the roof...
Remove the bogies...
Weld/glue the doors in the closed position...
using some appropriate sized, Styrene angle stock, reinforce the top of the sides...
Using a few cut lengths of thin coat hanger wire, cut two lengths to fit as reinforcing rods, to fit in holes drilled in the sides.
...these rods are to simulate prevention of the sides to spread outwards when the car is loaded.
Mount a brake wheel, on the end of the car...
Take the basic car without trucks (Bogies), and under frame, out of doors and using a "Rattle can" of your choice of
colour, and using several thin coats, paint it; covering all the old paint, and lettering...
Let the paint cure over several days...
Reassemble the car, with its trucks and under frame,,,
Using a simple strip label maker, make up simple "Reporting marks", and a number...
Load the car with sawdust, and you have a model of a wood chip car....
You can body mount couplers of choice, or just use the provided truck mounted couplers, provided with the car Wagon"
