Both the two amp and five amp BlueRailDCC receivers are available directly from the designer and manufacturer of the boards, Tam Valley Depot. The prices have been substantially reduced to remain competitive in a changing market.

BlueRailDCC boards are Bluetooth receivers that allow control of locomotives from the free Blunami app on iPhones, iPads, and Android phones/tablets. Output of the BlueRailDCC boards are DCC signals to any NMRA standard DCC decoder. The BlueRailDCC boards can also function alone as motion-only decoders to control speed, direction, and two lights.

And Steve has omitted to mention that, if you want BlueRail with sound then there is a much more economical way to go .... in fact 42% cheaper. BlueRail works with MyLocoSound soundcards which cost just US$99 compared with US$256 for the Soundtraxx Blunami decoders. Connection is easy with screw terminals throughout as shown in the attached wiring diagram for the Bluerail 5 amp board. The only difference is that with the Soundtraxx decoders you can set and modify the sounds through the BlueRail app whereas MyLocoSound uses a TV remote control (something we all know how to use) to select and modify the sounds.

The total cost of BlueRail 5 amp + MyLocoSound is US$219 compared with US$376 for BlueRail 5 amp + Blunami. MyLocoSound soundcards are available from G Scale Graphics in the US and Fosworks, Micron and LocoControl in the UK.

Hi Peter,

MyLocoSound is a fine product and I have a BlueRailDCC + MyLocoSound board in one of my locos. However, your cost comparison is a bit misleading. The Blunami boards from Soundtraxx combine of the functions of the BlueRailDCC receivers and a sound decoder onto one board. Therefore, in a Blunami installation there would not be a BlueRailDCC board.

Okay. I misunderstood. Thanks. So does that mean that the Blunami maximum output is four amps not the five amps of the BlueRail DCC board?
