Blue Stainz Starter Set

Is Personal
Anyone have any pictures/info on a blue Stainz industrial starter set part number 78435??

I found these two images from an old eBay auction.  Is this the one?

Thanks for that Gordon. That's the one!

Just bought one off ebay and hope to get it tomorrow.

Never ever seen this set before.

It arrived today courtesy of P2G and City Link.

Brand spanking new and with the chuff.

Already done several circuits in the dining room. When did they bring out this set in the Mannesman livery?

That looks a great buy, Roly. All it needs now is a blue coach for the crane crew and a blue open truck for tools etc.

Look what else there is, Roly:

Grootspur have other more expensive ones.

Found an old link to ebay that suggests the blue stainz set was produced as an exclusive set for a German retain chain.
The loco in that listing was sold for nearly as much as I paid for the set so, well pleased.
Ironic, I started with a Stainz Starter Set and this (lottery excepted) will be my last!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surprised that someone with the 'Lok' book has not popped-up to give chapter and verse on it??

My first G Scale purchase was one of these sets back in 2004 from GRS along with plenty of additional track.

Probably because it's not in there.

It appears to be in neither the LOK book nor the LGB Compendium, and I would assume it was almost certainly an "uncatalogued" item. The only one I've seen was in Great Eastern Models in Norwich, back in the days when they had a large upstairs room of mainly LGB - it would have been about 2003, though they may have had the set in stock for a considerable time by then. They were splitting the set up and selling the models individually, and I bought the blue Matra crane car from them for a very reasonable figure (about 35 quid if I recall correctly).
So, all I can really tell you is that I know it is a pre-2003 release!

But it was worth the 'dig' to get a response..
We are back to 2003, so far.

With it being Mannesmann, perhaps a German Forumite might be able to chip-in with more info??

well the last metal rods on a stainz were 2001, this is a plastic rod version, so we can date it between 2001 and 2003 is there a lgb date code on the loco or crane, by that we could get the build date

The only blue train set I know about is the sets with the blue coaches, which I know of 3 versions of the model

the date code on mine is 001102 it also has a direct decoder interface.

OK, so that pins it down to a 2002 manufactured loco in Muns' case, so I reckon the set was an uncatalogued special edition for 2002/3.....

There was another blue train set in THW (German civil protection organisation).  (Photo taken from marktplaats.nl)

It says 00.11.02 on the gold OK sticker.
And here it is running yesterday during a break in the fog.

And if I have the address right http://youtu.be/bLq_houLc6k
