Bernina Railcar21392

Has anyone stripped down a Bernina Railcar 21392 ABe34 I need to replace a faulty light bulb and install more passengers, a bit of advice would be helpful before I make a complete hash of it. As far as I can see there are only 4 standard screws ( under the motor blocks) but numerous small ones. The roof looks to be a no go area.

It still looks complicated, would it be safe to presume all the screws marked 22 are the ones to be removed first.

Also fiendishly tricky to get back together without something inside coming loose. I helped Andy Rush put his back together after he had installed an LGB Sound Box and we still had some bits flopping around inside. Grrrrr.

Top tip..get the polystyrene box it came in... use the top 1/2 ..take it apart upside down.. it's a pig of a job..very fiddly..the doors are a pain

I found keeping the doors in the right place when reassembling the worst bit.

Passengers sitting over the bogies need their legs cutting off....a bit harsh but there you go

Yes at least one of the inside doors may have been the problem, possibly more than one.

Possibly, be prepared to 'walk away' overnight, leaving it upside down in the top packaging..
Looking at it fresh in the morning, can help the blood-pressure, if not make the job any easier!

Thanks for all your suggestions, I found the one about the doors most appropriate, the simple option was to "blu tack" them in place, the other most important was a lead I had from GROutlet, move the 4 vacuum pipes to one side to reveal the 4 small beneath.
No doubt you see that I have done what i wanted, new 5v bulb fitted and extra figures glued in.
iT'S NOT SUCH A DAUNTING TASK, a bit fiddly yes but would happily do another.

Ah blue tack, how did we ever survive without it? Glad you have managed it ok. I got one of these Maintenance Traus from Glendal the other week and the Middle one suits pretty well everything that I have.

I used the box polystyrene it came in, but would you believe it one of the original figures became loose when it was back together again, this time it took less than 20mins to dismantle refix and reassemble, again, blu-tac came to the rescue. Think I can claim to be an expert on this loco now, not so sure on the electrics certainly some wiring in there.

I did a complete rewire on mine when converting to radio control, if anyone wants to know what all the wires do. Most of them are associated with the various lighting circuits.
