Beavercreek in the evening

Had a chance to do a little bit of running as the sun was dropping and then after a very laid back meal, good company, fine wine and coooool jazz I had the chance to take some pictures of a little night running.
As the light totally disappeared the camera with flash turned off was given a real big test and some of the photos were very pixellated. All shots were taken as the locos were in motion except for where I managed to get the streetcar starting off on its auto reverse shuttle track.
Here is a short selection of a very enjoysble evening running.

As the sun dropped behind the trees it stretched across the far Pointrock

On the other shuttle line a streetcar recently bought by the 'Beavercreek transportation Company' from a New York company, appears from a tunnel

Time for dinner, the trains carried on running and by time the meal was over the light had really gone:

Movement was rerally causing the camera problems as the flash would ruin the ambiance

The light reflecting off the RDC is actually the rail crossing flashing warning light.

Cor - Bl@@dy fantastic, pixies and all :clap::clap:
Don't think i will ever get a garden that looks that brill day or night :crying::crying:
So thanks for the pic's, i am in Awe :cool::thumbup::cool:

Some great shots - like the freight depot (it looks exceedingly good in the twilight) - very atmospheric:thumbup:

Thank you Rob, Korm and Mick for the comments.
The twilight does pose some problems for a handheld camera with moving trains but it certainly does add atmosphere!
As the night progressed the 'dew' on the track started to give running problems for the street car and even the shay began to falter on a a part of the track where the condensation was heaviest.
If it is as clement tonight, I want to try and get some 'BIG' deisels running and also some different steam. Richies live steamer Bummble Bee would be ever so nice in the twilight

good grief, it looks fantastic whatever light, so real, luving it.

Brilliant pics of an excellent railway well worth all the hard work you must have put into it

awesome MIKE!!!!!! NICE one MATEY! r u thinkin u mite put yr digtail camera at the front of yr loco while filmin it along the tracks then put u tube as it will be GREAT!!

Hi Mike
Some really lovely shots there  your whole railroad looks so nice in the everning light with all the multi function crossing signs and street lights
Had the Bumble Bee in steam today still trying to get the hang of the R/C
Have asked Chloe to get it on film next time .

very atmospheric indeed
and i really like the trolley in the station -an interesting twist to your pics -gives it a very sleepy/remote feel-almost like a gas electric/ doodle bug

quite a contrast to the last batch of pics with standard gauge dieselmania and tons of traffic

Many thanks to you Steve and Shawn

Beavercreek itself is on the mainline but also operates a local line that goes to the fictitious town of Arrowhead passing through Pointrock, skipping Arbour Summit.
Once I had decided what era and line I would run on the layout, I had initially thought of the layout as being totally narrow gauge but due to the topography of my garden and my interest in things mainline as well as narrow-gauge I decided to combine the two. Half of Beavercreek Station is the sleepy 'old narrow gauge feel, whilst the other side has the mainline and interchange. It is really 'compressing' operations but it does give the options to be more specific and run either mainline or local or then even on open days, to run everything!
