Battery driven Caledonia

Very good! What would be the original track volts of this loco and do you find any difference in pulling power on the lower voltage?
Also, is it R/C or manual?

The pulling power is not as high as it would be on a track drive, However I did construct a van containing a 12 volt lead Acid Gel battery and it was too fast without a very heavy load. As you will now guess, it is manual drive although it has the capability of reverse! I needed something that I could just put on one of my circuits so that I could put all my attention on driving a steam engine on the more difficult circuit at ground level!

Thanks for your reply. I've not bothered much with battery operation other than a tram engine I made which can be battery (6v - 4 off AA) or track - just change the box van (track) for a truck (battery) - just plug-in which I guess you do from 12 to 6v. I have two R/C Big haulers and only one controller (which rhymes with trap) so I put them on different tracks and run two off the one!
Everything else is track powered.

Mick
