Bassett Lowke Gauge 1 Mogul

time is not my friend
From junk box to train tracks! After a thorough clean up and lubrication. I set it on air and tuned it a bit. Next I fixed all the tank leaks which I am sure contributed to it's original demise. Fueled, oiled and watered her and set her aflame. TaDa !! It ran! Apart from the saftey leaking greatly I am very pleased. Disassembly and painting next. I do also have the tender.

I wondered if it is a Gresley K1 - has the long footplate....

Nice to see someone use a little TLC and bring some life back to a nice bit of old kit. A bit like the full sized preservation stuff. Well done Max

It is very cool. The tender also will require a bit of bodywork. I ordered my paint today. I will be doing it up as the BL LMS version as that is my favorite and I have found bits still attached to the tender. I will put up some pictures as I go if there's interest.

Ran like gang busters after repairing the safety! It is now tore down to bits in the shop. I fixed some dodgy soldering on the pipes and boiler and have fixed the dents in the boiler. The body work has been repaired as well. I will be priming it in the morning.

Loco is reassembled and back to running on air. Running well! I still need to reinstall the buffers and the smoke box and cab stanchions and then put on the handrails. It actually looks nicer in person than in the pictures. On to the tender!
