My Bachmann handcar(the grey version) has a split drive gear, and a split animating gear(the one on the axle).

Does anybody know where I can find suitable replacement gears? I don't know what kind to look for, or what kind of conventions are used for describing gear sizes.
I modified a newbright gear to make it work for now, but I'm not sure if the wobbly gear I've made will cause problems.
You can see what I mean in this video:
Thanks

If you don't mind spending about $25 for the gear, contact Jiro Yaramian on Facebook, he machines replacement gears
That's almost double what I paid for the whole hand car. Any idea if the wobbly gear I have in there now will cause problems?

In the past I've replaced gears with 3rd party items in delrin or brass, though not for one of these. If the handcar didn't cost you much in the first place it's probably not worth spending too much on new parts?

You need to take some measurements of the gears eg. outside diameter and number of teeth to calculate the MOD value, also need the thickness, diameter of the centre hole etc. Are the teeth straight or angled cut? The trickiest problem in tthis case is likely to be the centre diameter, but you could always drill that out.

Suppliers of parts for hobby robots can be a good source, also ebay etc.

Here's a firm I've definitely used, to replace gears in an LGB Toytrain loco if I remember corrrectly.

The reason I indicated the price up front is to clear the air on what it is worth to replace. So, no, a $25 replacement is out of the question. OK, got it.

Bachmann does not have the replacement part, I know, and I assume you checked first.

Yep, you need to find a junker that has a good gear, but like a Yugo, all of them are bad, when they fail it's just a matter of time.

Run your wobbly gear until it fails or you get a replacement. Yeah one would think it will eventually cause excessive wear, but honestly the whole drive train is crap, so other than finding used gears, or having custom ones made, you are where you are. You have repaired it for zero dollars so far, grease the gear up good, and keep the load low (lube your trailer well)
