Avonside Locomotive "Nancy"

Hi all,
I'm looking for a decent outline drawing ( two side, two ends and top elevations) of Avonside 0-6-0 locomotive, "Nancy". I know it's currently owned by the Cavan and Lietrim and has been undergoing restoration at Alan Keef's, Ross-on-Wye, but try as I may, I cannot source a drawing. Doesn't matter too much about drawing scale although my intention was to check and see if I could use a Piko 0-6-0 chassis as a make-do.

Hope someone out there can help

Cheers

Thanks Gizzy, in fairness I have looked at these images before and apart from a couple of photos, there aren't any line drawings at all that I can scale off. problem with Nancy is that she has a dropped footplate / cab which can really throw the overall proportions of the thing out if not scaled correctly.

Thanks for reply though

Keep looking eh?

I think a pic of what you are looking for might help as the link that Gizzy gave gave us lots of options.

Aha so Nancy was Avonside 1547 of of 1908 based in varying Ironstone Quarries in Leicestershire. A 3ft Gauge Locomotive, perhaps if anyone has a book on Avonside Locomotives there could well be a side Works Grey view of Nancy. But I am not sure if such a book exists, a search of Abe books did not find anything. I have looked through my Leulux Index of Model Railway Drawings no luck.

I wonder if anyone can trawl through the 16mm Society Index of Drawings? There may have been one done in the 16mm mag if you are lucky.

Hi Rik,
Good to talk to you. Yes, that is the only drawback I can see with the Piko chassis. However, I think I could live with that.
On a further note, It is your blog that is to blame for my garage being full of plasticard off-cuts!
I have already mainly completed to your prescription, the two Manning Wardle tanks.
My "Wenhaston" will be "Wrottesley" due to the location being south Staffordshire. the 0-6-0 will be Sparrow as my line is the Sparrows End light railway. I also have a Kerr Stuart "Superior" 0-6-2, bashed from an LGB 0-6-0 outside frame diesel chassis which I have modified to give better representation of the frames.

They are all in works Plasticard White (or black) at the moment as I am still fettling as and when I get chance, but looking to apply precision SR olive as a standard livery when the weather warms up a bit.

But getting back to Nancy, thanks for the info - Love Peckforton!

Kind regards
Dave

Hi
Glad to hear my scribblings have helped (or are to blame - depending on your viewpoint).
You've left me full of anticipation - you have completed a ........... ????

Yes, I grant you they are similar except for that pesky drop in the footplate!
If all else fails, I have a 4mm drawing from Railway Modeller for Caledonia, on which I could base a new drawing for Nancy.

Thanks for the info John, I did Email the C&L some time back but didn't get a reply.

A good photograph of the dimensioned works GA drawing would get me started' but I really need a good orthographic projection of all three planes of the locomotive to do the job properly.

Does anyone know....

(a) The wheel diameter
(b) The coupled wheelbase
(c) The boiler dimensions?

Again, these would start me off and keep me going for a while!

Any help would be gratefully received

Thanks in anticimpatient

David
