At long last Fern Gully lives up to its name

My station is called Fern Gully but until this season was a bit lacking in the fern department. By some happy chance ferns started to grow this year just by the station approach. The dappled light through the ferns makes for some nice photos so I trundled Sir Tom around the track and got to work with my camera.

One of our cats took a liking to watching the proceedings from under the ferns...

That looks great. like a tree lined cutting.

Ferntastic lovely looking line and buildings

that second shot... PERFECT 10...

Nice to see some photos of your line again Philip, always looks stunning. Actually looks even better without the train!

My compliments on the well aligned trackwork. So often a good layout gets spoilt with shoddy track.

I have the type of ferns where all of the fronds radiate from the central Rye Zone, I believe it is called. Not sure of the spelling there. I havn't seen the type you have there. they look more like a tree fern. Would you know which type you have?
I see the station master lurking in the shadows. Did he/she approve of you photograpy. I know I did.

So in proportion - makes you feel you could step straight into the pictures!

I don't know the variety. They have been growing at the front of the house for years but this is the first time they have migrated to the back. They are invasive so I have to make sure they don't get too numerous by yanking out the ones I don't want.

Seconded. It makes you feel like you're standing lineside, listening to the sound of an approaching train, waiting for it to burst out from under the canopy of trees....

Are you sure they are ferns? Look more like Bracken to me
