So i've just pulled out an old Loksound XL 2.0 decoder out of a loco as its having a new V4 in it. I wanted to change the sounds on the decoder to another loco, but having some difficulties...
I'm using the software 2.7.9 with the lokprog unit. It knows theres a decoder connected, I can use the decoder test which works correctly, I can read the decoder, I can also read/mod one cv at a time, but I can't reset or upload any new sounds. When trying to put the new sounds on, it gets stuck at
'Detecting flash memory size. please be patient'
The software then crashes and has to force close and restart...
The decoder is on the bench with just the track, motor, and speaker connections connected. What am i doing wrong??
And from my earlier posting, has anybody managed to fit a V4 XL in to an LGB model using a massoth 10pin plug? I have the correct drawings, but have not heard of anybody actually doing it.

Cheers in advance :)

It's not the V4 software is it ? I know the latest version doesn't work with V3.5 chips and the older program doesn't work with V4's so you need both on the PC! Sorry I've only just got a v4 so not uploaded the new software yet to play with it. Or do you need an earlier version for a V2 chip? Drop ESU an email and they do get back eventually.
It sounds like software to me if the chip responds to the other stuff and with my V4 it only allows the things you mention on the 3.5 software and not the full editing screens.
Try this earlier software from the former products tab off the lokprogrammer software pages
