Another Newquida Conversion

Having done some fairly major kitbashing on a couple of the Newquida coaches a few years back, I still had one left over and decided to convert this one into a executive saloon type of carriage, totally freelance in design, to go with the rest of my "Argentinian" train. I kept the rebuilding process somewhat simpler than the previous two, the main changes being constructing end vestibules to replace the end platforms, together with blanking off some of the windows.
The vestibules were constructed using plastic strip & sheet as below, retaining the platforms and steps from the originals.....

The completed article is shown below..........

It has got a complete fitted interior which made use of selected Star Trek figures that turned up in Poundland a few years back

Mr Spock orders two pints........(or is it four..)

Rather conveniently, the figures each came with their own chairs to sit in..

Wow, nice !

More of your excellent conversion work Steve....

You have boldly gone where no man has gone. Your experiences will enlighten all who come into contact with your force........
Great bash....just love the 'holo-deck'..... :)

One other vehicle I played around with was one of the box vans, which was basically cut in half and then lengthened to fit the existing roof, dispensing with the end platform in the process.
Plasticard was used to make new double side doors and then the body was fitted on a bogie chassis from one of the NQ open wagons.........

After a coat of paint, I ended up with an ex-works baggage car.........

The complete train now consists of loco, baggage van, open coach, passenger brake and the executive saloon. I may get round to building a working TPO/Mail coach at some stage to go with it........
