Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself as a AW NUTS sort of guy interested mainly in short line and narrow gauge modeling. Some of you might remember the likes of Bruce Bates’ Birdwater and Raspberry Railroad or Rowland Emmett’s Far Twittering and Oyster Creek, my muse so they are. The NG prototype Maine narrow gauge Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway and their museum captured my heart so they did. What fun. P.S. The acronym = Aways Whimsical - Not Usually To Scale. Merry Holidays everyone.

Welcome to the forum Mark, used to love the AWNUTS mag, whilst much of it was indeed quirky many of the builds were vary good with much skilled modelling on display. Look forward to viewing what you have done in pictures.

Welcome to the forum. AWNUTS, I must be too young for that! Anyway lots of help and advice available here, just beware of the humour

Welcome to the forum Nutty....

Good luck with the moving … that can be arduous. I also keep a pile of AW NUTS magazines as the whimsy can create such interesting and entertaining builds.

Welcome aboard Mark.

Thanks for the welcome. The magazine’s whimsy had a light hearted philosophy of life that produces quirky builds but was also fostered acceptance of differences. It makes the world a much nicer place I think. And I will post some pictures in the future that I hope will be indeed interesting as well as fun. Tx again.

Hi Mark, and welcome to the Forum. There's a Rowland Emmet mural quite near me in Hemel Hempstead so I know where you're coming from, inspiration-wise. You may already know that Smallbrook Studios produce a range of Far Twittering models in our scale. I don't know if they ship 'em across the pond, though...

Rereading the post, perhaps, but the world (read space) around each person is a bit more comfortable if differences are considered as learning opportunities whatever the circumstance…. or scale.
ah, what? - your answer seems to be above my pay grade...
to explain, the word AWNUTS reminds me of a bunch of masterly layouts. (many of them with a smile and a blinking eye)
to reach that level, is a high goal (in my opinion)
;)
