Accucraft Superior - New purchase

The fantastic weather today allowed me to give my new loco, an Accucraft Superior, a proper run. Since I bought it, I've pained the rods red, the sand domes black and the wheel rims have been blackened . I've also bought a new receiver battery for it and converted it to 2.4ghz r/c. It was already radio controlled on the reverser and I intended to add r/c to the regulator too but it is extremely comntrollable as it is so I may leave it like this. The only other thing I might change is the burner. I've wrappped it in mesh but it's still very noisy, especially compared to my Cheddar loco. I got about 40mins run time out of it today which given the cold weather was very impressive.
Anyway, here's the photos. I ran it with my W&L stock which matches it size wise.

That's very nice indeed! I've wanted a superior since they first came out and that's one of the best turned- out examples I've seen. Good photography too :)

I think they need to be brought back.

I think aesthetically the Bowaters tanks were some of the most attractive NG locos to run in the UK, the dimensions just look right. I'd love to see some on the W&L again but I'm not sure that'll happen.

Really nice James. I used to live in Aberystwyth and met my wife there. Lived on Cliff Terrace..

I walked up to the top of Constitution Hill yesterday so was right next to Cliff terrace. Could do with a bit of a makeover though Aberystwtyth, some parts are looking very shabby.

What a great loco James. Super pictures and I do like the improvements you have made.

Steam and sun...........wonderful.........some superb pics........what a nice peacfull thing to do in your spare time, Just don't understand why this great hobby isn't more popular.

That's really nice James - I bet you're pleased with her! Superior is actually the first Accu engine I saw in the 'flesh', I was impressed with how well it ran.

I have to admit your red rods inspired me to do the same to my Mortimer!

I initially got the inspiration for the red rods from Bradypus when he bought his Lawley to my dad's house, it looked really good. Superior did have them when it visited the W&L too so it is prototypical.

I am very pleased with it, it runs really well and is extremely powerful so much so I think it might out-haul Hercules, too cold too try though! The only downside is that it has depleted my Countess fund!

Ah, I should thank Bradypus too, then - he is a regular visitor here! Oops!8D
