This delightful  model in `Tuscan Red` by Accucraft is based on the original prototype built in 1885 for the 3` gauge Manx Northern Railway and is shown on a pre-Christmas run with period coaches

The model has flangeless center wheels to assist in negotiating some of the tighter curves prevalent on some of the `gscale` garden railways.
The excellent smoke feature has been fitted by the owner.

Very nice. What is the smoke unit?

The loco and rolling stock in that video belong to me and I fitted a Graupner smoke unit in a similar manner to that I advised Mik in this topic.

To get it to smoke well at low speed I fitted a few inverse parallel diodes in the motor circuit.

Lovely looking loco. Always liked Caledonia. I've always been concerned about its ability to negotiate tight curves. Just wondering how much difference the flangeless centre wheels make.

It`ll just manage LGB R1 light engine. However R1 reverse curves give problems, not the least with couplings.

I find that the fine flanges, there are only four and very shallow, and lack of any compensation can result in derailments on badly laid track with sudden changes in level on curves.
