Guys, A while ago I got a "Generation One" Accucraft BD diesel. I know alot has been posted about the short comings of the chassis but having recieved the latest "Gen two" version -this one I would like to say it is pretty blasted good loco. The chassis is a good weight which improves the tractive effort of the thing. I have some pretty feirce grades on my line and she just flys along then. John at Track Shack battery powered it for me- just magic. Any idea what sound unit to use in it though??

In addition to that I got another chassis for my other loco and whilst it arrived slightly damaged- two steps snapped off. John got the bolts and aspinner out to me in no time at all to replace the offending bolts. Tell you what though- have you ever tried clearance drilling and re-tapping the holes for 1.6mm bolts? Hmmm interesting to say the least.

Well done to John and the Track Shack team for the work.

Accucraft also deserves a pat on the back for prompt delivery of replacement parts too.

Nice to see her running Trainman, and congratulations on drilling and tapping the the M1.6 step bolts - not an easy job! Just so folks understand, if Trainman had been in the UK he would have had his chassis swapped for another one, however because he is in New Zealand undertaking the delicate operation was less pain than posting back.

Doing it that way was certainly easier (and less costly with postage) and once John was contacted I had the new items withing a week. I have yet to convert the loco into my SR'd version but think the green will look good pulling a small load. With the new versions pulling power that theory might need to be rethought as her power is magic now.

John, Thanks for your very prompt service and help. As to the other John (JRinTawa) I will be down next weekend for the meeting over that weekend. Hope to catch up then.
