Recently aquired live steam Shay is taken for a shake down run and for route familiarisation for the newly hired driving and firing crew. Izzy, Chief of groundworks operations, is deeply unimpressed.

Mine bought from Andrew Steel at Garden Raiway Centres but could be bought from any UK Accucraft dealer and backed up by UK warrenty support. Depends if they are still available to ship from Accucraft in US. Price new c £1,750-£1,950.

If buying 2nd hand, there are a few around in the UK, be aware that 1st issue had cab mounted Gas tank. 2nd issue (the one you see) has gas tank in oil bunker, adjustable displacement steam oil lubricator and lever operated water pump mounted in oil bunker.

These locos are water hungry beasties and you need to keep an eye on the water levels. Can be run on inclined layouts without R/C. Everybody who has one seems to rave about them. Me too !

Very nice looking steamer

She's a beauty indeed, I wish Shays or Climax's had been utilised in the UK, that way I could have one on my railway:admire::admire::admire:
